Title: Underwriter, OLO
Location: West Palm Beach, Florida

Business Summary:

Ocwen Loan Originations is a wholesale residential mortgage banking business with an emphasis on originating FHA loans. It is comprised of three major components, which are Sales & Marketing, Loan Fulfillment and Capital Markets. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and indirectly to the Chief Underwriter.

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for underwriting loans submitted by brokers on a daily basis.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all current underwriting guidelines, federal and state lending laws and have the ability to comprehensively explain all to others within and outside the organization.
• Interpret credit policy guidelines and investor guidelines and apply them to specific loans for effective sale in the secondary market.
• Effectively and quickly communicate any areas of concern with a loan file to Brokers, Account Managers and Sales staff.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and professionalism.
• Effectively partner with Loan Set Up, Account Manager, Closer and other operations to ensure smooth and efficient processing of all loans in the pipeline.
• Issue approvals and declinations after first searching all avenues via multiple programs to determine the best fit for the applicant.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for completing all data input required to ensure each underwritten file meets the company’s credit quality criteria and individual loan product guidelines.
• Ensure underwriting decision turn-time service levels are met each day.
• Perform required analysis of property appraisal to ensure subject properties meet the company’s appraisal criteria.
• Coordinate with the Appraisal Department for the timely ordering and completion of all review appraisals.
• Communicate with and train offshore associates on specific job functions to ensure processes and standards are delivered.

Key Result Areas:

• Meet or exceed productivity standard for new submissions underwritten per day
• 100% success rate in obtaining FHA Insurance policies
• Zero loan sale fall-out
• Loan performance at or below market averages

Qualifications:

This position requires a minimum of three years current FHA residential loan experience.

The ideal candidate must:

• Have working knowledge of DU/LP/ AUDS, FHA Connection and Total Scorecard.
• Be familiar with FHA Handbooks and Mortgagee Letters.
• Have excellent problem solving skills and good decision making skills.
• Be able to explain their decision and negotiate in a diplomatic manner.
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
• Have well developed oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Be able to recognize and act on both departmental and company priorities.
• Be proficient in Microsoft applications and open to learning and applying new software applications quickly.
• High school graduate required with Bachelors degree or additional advanced training/education preferred.

Underwriter - $80,000  to 90,000
